• Our rate is $55 per hour, and charged only for time spent in a direct therapeutic capacity with our clients.

    There is no charge for the initial consultation, care partner communications, preparation for sessions, and documentation.

    All services are tax deductible and covered by many private insurance plans.

  • Yes, we supply basic activity resources at no extra cost to our clients.

    From time to time, your specialist may recommend personalized supplies and materials to be purchased and kept in your home as well.

    Materials used will evolve over time as needs and abilities change.

  • We travel to our client’s preferred location, but should the client wish to participate in programs in the community we can arrange third party transportation.

  • Session lengths are a minimum of 3 hours to allow an appropriate length of time for a warm introduction, activity engagement, and wind down period. Longer sessions may be planned if requested by the care partner and beneficial for the client.

    We see our clients a minimum of once per week in order to foster therapeutic relationships and outcomes.

  • In the interest of person-centered care, we do our best to schedule sessions during a time that best suits the needs of our clients - daytime, evenings, and weekends.

  • In addition to demonstrated competence working with people who are experiencing dementia, our specialists must acquire the following trainings:

    • Diploma or degree in Recreation Therapy

    • U-FIRST

    • Gentle Persuasive Approaches

    • Dementia Care Training Program

    • Montessori Dementia Certificate Program

    • Indigenous Cultural Safety Training

    • Acting in Allyship with 2SLGBTQI People Living with Dementia

    • Diversity and Inclusion Training

    • Infection Prevention and Control

    • Falls Prevention

    • Standard First Aid & CPR/AED certification

    We feel strongly about continuing education and take every opportunity to enhance our knowledge with new educational opportunities as they become available.

    Team members are also required to have a vulnerable sector police check completed prior to working with our clients.

  • Yes. If our client has an interest in activities in the community, we do everything possible to enable participation.

  • We are able to provide basic dietary support, continence care, and medication reminders during our client sessions.

    Should needs of the client exceed our scope of practice, we are happy to offer referrals from our professional network.

  • Yes. We are members in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario and the Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association.
